Ayia Kyriaki Chapel (St Paul of the Pillar)

Ayia Kyriaki is the oldest chapel in Paphos if not on the Entire Island. For Catholic and Anglican Wedding Couples who wish to marry in Paphos there is no better place then Ayia Kyriaki (St Paul of the Pillar) for this magnificent church and it’s history.

The site goes back to the Roman rulers in Paphos when St Paul the Apostle started preaching about Jesus Christ and converted many of the local people to Christianity in 46 AD, he was tied to one of the pillars and flogged. The Chapel is Byzantine which dates back to the 12th Century but was also taken over by the Crusaders as the focal point of the quest for the Holy Grail.

Today the Church is shared by the Catholic and Anglican communities for their services and gives a warm welcome to Wedding couples. The Catholic Priest Fr John Sansour is from Palestine and speaks 14 languages.

St George’s Chapel
St George’s Chapel is located in Chloraka, district of Paphos it is 4 miles from Paphos on the main road to Coral bay. It is a newly built chapel only about 10 yrs old and is owned by the Greek Orthodox Church, it is understood to be one of the landing ports for the Crusaders.

Catholic and Anglican Services are held there Monday through to Friday, the chapel is only small seating between 26 – 30 people but it is ideal for that intimate setting. The grounds of the chapel are well adorned with shrubs and trees it may not be suitable for wheelchair users as they only have steps leading into and out of the chapel.
